Estimates for raster artwork, not a pass/fail check. Fine text and logos may need higher resolution or vector artwork. Confirm bleed, finishing margins and resolution with your printer, especially for banners and billboards.

Check the file. Then get it approved.

Increasing DPI alone cannot restore missing image detail. Check the actual artwork before sending a branded proof to your client.

    Print resolution questions

Does every print need 300 DPI?

Close-up artwork commonly uses 300 DPI. Large signs viewed from metres away can often use less; the printer’s specification takes priority.

Should I calculate at full size?

Yes. Enter the finished size, not a scaled-down document size. A 1:10 file at 1,000 DPI is effectively 100 DPI when printed at full size.
